Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw going on DL with lower back tightness

There is no panic at Dodger Stadium. Yet.

Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw was pulled after two scoreless innings of Sunday’s game against the Braves. Kershaw, who had struck out two with a walk, had not allowed a hit before leaving with an apparent injury. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said after Sunday’s 5-4 win that Kershaw will go on the disabled list without a timetable on a return. Tests on Kershaw’s back are scheduled for Monday.

Urschel’s retirement comes just two days after a Boston University study concluded that 110 of 111 former NFL players who donated their brains for research after death had CTE.

Urschel has written in the past that he envied 49ers linebacker Chris Borland, who retired early from the NFL because of concern over concussions and how that would affect his brain later in life.

However, when mentioning Borland’s situation, Urschel also indicated that he continued to play the game out of his love for the sport despite concerns over brain injury.

“I play because I love the game. I love hitting people,” Urschel wrote for The Players Tribune. “There’s a rush you get when you go out on the field, lay everything on the line and physically dominate the player across from you. This is a feeling I’m (for lack of a better word) addicted to, and I’m hard-pressed to find anywhere else.”

They’d love to rebuild, but the contracts on the books — Miguel Cabrera, Jordan Zimmermann, Victor Martinez and Justin Upton — are prohibitive to that process. They don’t want to trade young ace Michael Fulmer, who made the All-Star team this year and is still years from arbitration.

That brings us to Justin Verlander. He’s been the face of this franchise for a decade now; he won the AL Cy Young award and MVP in 2011, and he’s Cheap Yankees Jerseys helped the Tigers to five playoff appearances, including two World Series Cheap Youth Soccer Jerseys trips.
